Our story

With a passion for science and health Erik S. Poulsen studied both Medicine and a MSc in Biomedical Engineering. But what later became Cortrium started with an ECG prototype for professional athletes, a Bayer accelerator program, and the wish to solve unmet needs and impact life positively.

“Working as a doctor in cardiology I realized that there was no scalability in treating one patient at a time and I saw opportunities to improve the patient journey and make ECG easy. More specifically, long-term ECG meant long waiting time for the patient and long time spent on analyzing data by the staff, instead of treating more patients, and finally the devices were inconvenient for patients”.

“I also saw potential in applying new technology in cardiology, so in 2014 Cortrium was founded with the purpose of creating the best solution for analyzing long-term ECG to identify arrhythmias and prevent heart diseases and strokes”. Cortrium offers a long-term ECG solution with recording and reporting combining novel hardware, advanced algorithms, and human expertise.

Today, Cortrium continues to create efficiency in the health care sector to the benefit of health care professionals and patients across multiple countries and with the aim to help save lives on a daily basis because we make ECG easy.
